today's updates

Schedule for the remainder of the semester:

Tuesday, May 1: Final (10:30AM - NOTE EARLIER TIME). You will be presenting your manifesto to the class.

ALL WORK MUST BE TURNED IN (i.e., posted online BY THIS TIME).

And, if you can't afford InDesign or you're into free, open-source software, there's Scribus. It does basically the same thing as InDesign, although it may not have all the interface-niceness that InDesign has. And, here's a template for you to make iPad-ready documents in Scribus. Enjoy!

Also, the iPad version of Experimental Media Voodoo™ ( 17 PDF files from about 1MB to 11MB).

April 19 — Reviewing your manifesto ideas, production day. New template for older versions of InDesign, too. And another draft of my own little artist's book (first 33 pages).

April 12 - here are some materials with which to build a poster.

week of April 9 - Final schedule for next week: [no rehearsal or loading of equipment on Friday, Ap. 13.] Everything on Saturday, Ap. 14: loading from Ft. Lauderdale at 2pm, travel to Miami at 3pm, setup upon arrival, tech rehearsal at 4pm, show at 8pm.  Inkub8 performance studio, 2021 NW 1st Place, Miami. (take 95 south to exit 6A, MLK boulevard, take a right on MLK, take a left on NW 7th, Highway 441 (very soon after exiting 95). Take a left on NW 20th Avenue, take a left on NW 1st place. Destination is on your right.

April 3 - A template to start working with, in InDesign , and a beginning tutorial. And, my digital artist's book project. Our first day of InDesign.

Mar 29 - Next classes (Ap. 3 + 5) - - We will begin the final project, Your Digital Manifesto. Prepare, by looking at the material, and putting together 1) Questions and 2) Sketches/drafts of your ideas.

Mar 27 - Participation : Friday, April 13; Saturday Evening, April 14. If not available, you can create some media for the show - - motion graphics, or voiceovers

Mar 20 - Gasland this week.

Feb. 22 - more explorations, integrating stylized images with logotype text.

Feb 17. - can you make one of these in Illustrator (the symbol of the Tai-Chi)? The line art should only be the two fishy shapes and the two circles against a grey background. Try it! (Hint: you'll make a total of five circles, and use the pathfinder divide and unite).

Feb 14 - Photomontages: On your wordpress blog, put :

1) Two thumbnails, each linking to the full size image, and

2) A little paragraph/explanation/note/discussion of your photomontages, and the aspects of design in which they are 'opposites'.

Illustrator: Our first little vector funtime.

Feb 5 - Looking at your sketches today - - Remember, you could include early drafts of your photomontages - - sketches, early composites, etc. as material in the sketchbook. It's not literally for 'sketching' - - you can expand that concept. Check your feedback, enter your Z-number (capital Z followed by eight digits, no spaces, then hit return). If this doesn't work, clear your browser's cache and try again.

Feb 2      - Notes for the quiz on Tuesday. And you might want to review your keyboard shortcuts (cut, copy, paste, save, open, new, quit, select all, deselect, undo, redo etc.)

Jan 31     -  Duchamp Exhibition in Miami.

Jan 24     - Our Little Quiz. Review this and this and this and the artists we looked at here and here and here and you'll do great!

Jan17:

    • We need to POSTPONE OUR FIRST QUIZ: it will happen next TUESDAY (Jan 24).
    • LAB HOURS.
    • Two Opportunities, if you want to put your videos into the larger (Ft. Lauderdale) Art Party World. For ATN,  EMAIL ME.(here's an example of the sort of video material ATN is looking for). For V-Day, click here.

Jan 12      - Need your Wordpress Address!
